About the Artisan

Poul Bækhøj (1942–2017) was a Danish ceramicist and sculptor who began his career in Aarhus. His early works explored ceramics with simple, generous forms and refined ornamentation. In the 1980s, his focus turned toward sculpture — especially in granite — where he shaped works that balanced strength, rhythm, and space.

Bækhøj created pieces that are today represented in museums and public spaces across Denmark. His ceramics and sculptures remain a testament to his ability to unite form and feeling, craft and presence.
