Vintage Pinewood two-seater sofa

DKK 5,000.00

Unique vintage two-seater sofa, likely Danish or Scandinavian, from the 1970s. Crafted in solid pine with open rectangular armrests and a warm, natural patina. The design is minimalist and timeless — perfect for modern, mid-century, or Nordic-inspired interiors.

The cushions have been reupholstered with extra padding and high-quality fabric from Danish textile house Kvadrat. The result is a comfortable and elevated look that blends beautifully with the natural wood.

The base support has been replaced at some point and is not original, but the frame is sturdy and in good condition. Originally featured turquoise cushions, which are also available upon request.

A characterful and rare piece — not marked, but likely early IKEA or small-scale Danish production.

Notable Features:

  • Box frame construction: The side profile, showing a rectangular cut-out and visible screw plugs, is highly reminiscent of designs by Rainer Daumiller or Børge Mogensen, especially his pine furniture for FDB Møbler.

  • Pine wood with patina: The use of solid pine with knots and aging is characteristic of Nordic rustic-modern design, often associated with designers like Bernt Petersen, Rainer Daumiller, and Franco Albini.

  • Minimalist, honest joinery: The simple yet robust screw assembly and lack of hidden fasteners point to an approach that values utility and visibility of structure — a hallmark of Danish design ethos from that era.

  • Cushion style: Loose cushions in a natural fabric (mustard or ochre cotton) add to the utilitarian but warm aesthetic.
